Arsenal vs Brentford betting tips: Premier League preview, predictions and odds

[RECOMMENDED_BETS]

Brentford can become the first newly-promoted club to do the double over Arsenal since Blackburn 29 years ago. Arsenal are unbeaten in 32 home league matches against promoted sides, scoring in 31 of these fixtures.

Arsenal to win and both teams to score NO is 6/5.

Emile Smith Rowe is 7/1 to break the deadlock and 12/5 to net anytime.

Match preview

Whilst all their rivals continue to falter, can Arsenal stay in a good position to take the final Champions League place?

In their last game, nine days ago, the Gunners battled to a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Gabriel poked home the only goal but they then had to cling on at the end after Gabriel Martinelli picked up two bookings in five seconds 20 minutes from time.

The Gunners still have very tough fixtures to come, namely against Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United, which’ll obviously be key.

But, to ensure Arsenal are in the best positition when those matches do come around, they need to pick up points against the teams lower down the division.

Brentford meanwhile make the 10.3 mile journey across London in terrible form.

Last weekend, Thomas Frank’s men held Crystal Palace to a bore goalless draw at the Brentford Community Stadium.

This at least stopped the rot because, before that, the Bees had lost five successive league games and gone out the FA Cup to Everton in this period.

In fact, Brentford have only won three of 18 league engagements, since 3 October, and are 14th, just seven points above the danger zone.

After this, they face three of the sides below them in succession: Newcastle, Norwich and then Burnley.

Arsenal lost this fixture 2-0 back on the opening day but will the Gunners have too much quality six months on?

Arsenal team news

Gabriel Martinelli will serve his one-match suspension here after his bizarre red card at Wolves.

These is good news for Arsenal though as Takehiro Tomiyasu should be fit enough to start, coming back in at right-back instead of Cédric.

Given that Arsenal only have 20 senior players in their squad, the rest of the XI essentially picks itself.

Emile Smith Rowe will come into the team on the left for Martinelli, completing the attacking trio along with Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka.

Alexandre Lacazette will lead the line, looking to add to his measly three goals this season.

The Frenchman has at least scored 12 times London derby goals at Emirates Stadium so will be hoping that’s a good omen.

Brentford team news

Brentford meanwhile have only scored six goals in their last 11 goals against top-flight opposition.

This problem was only worsened last weekend by the fact top-scorer Ivan Toney missed the game injured; it’s unknown whether he’ll be back.

At the other end of the pitch, David Raya is back after four months out injured.

This is a massive boost because his deputy, fellow Spaniard Álvaro Fernández, had looked out of his depth at times.

In midfield, Josh Dasilva has come off the bench in each of their last three games, looking to start for the first time since 27 February last year due to a hip injury.

Sergi Canós scored the first goal of this Premier League season against Arsenal so will be hoping for something similar in this fixture.
