There’s just two games left in Serie A this season as Sampdoria plod towards the end of a terrible campaign that has already seen them relegated into Serie B with the Genoa side set to play hosts to Sassuolo in their final Serie A home game.
Sampdoria were battered 5-1 by AC Milan last weekend and it has now extended their winless run to nine games since defeating Hellas Verona. They have, however, been relegated since May 8th.
They lost to Udinese that day and after drawing with Empoli a week later, Sampdoria have guarunteed themselves that they will not only be relegated by finish last in Serie A.
As for Sassuolo, they have been safe for some time and now sit behind the top 10 by just six points. It does mean they can still get into the top half of the table, but it would require a lot of luck too.
The Black and Green have lost 16 times still after a 2-1 defeat to Monza last weekend. In fact, it’s been a month since they last won by beating Empoli
