The Kulusevski comments that could hand Arsenal boost in hunt for Juventus star

Previous comments on the part of Juventus’ Dejan Kulusevski could potentially hand Arsenal a boost in their attempts to sign the winger.

Kulusevski’s Juventus stint

Juventus would sign Dejan Kulusevski from fellow Serie A side Atalanta in January of 2020.

The Turin-based outfit are believed to have paid around £31.5m for the winger.

Kulusevski was then loaned to Parma for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign, before being handed a chance to impress at Juve from 2020/21.

The Swedish international endured a mixed first season in Turin, which saw him score seven and assist seven in 47 outings across all competitions.

And the 21-year-old has since struggled for regular action across the 2021/22 season thus far. He has featured in all of the Bianconeri’s league games barring the last one before the November international break.

Kulusevski is a right-winger by trade, but is very versatile and can play anywhere across the front line.

Arsenal & Kulusevski

And now, though he has not had the brightest of starts to 2021/22, Kulusevski has seemingly attracted the interest of Arsenal.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio recently reported that after the Gunners struggled in their attempts to sign Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina, Arsenal are now looking at Kulusevski.

Now, amid Arsenal’s reported interest in the Swede, previous comments from Kulusevski concerning Arsenal have re-emerged.

Back in 2019, Kulusevski appeared on a Swedish podcast and would be asked a number of quickfire questions, one of which was: ‘what is your favourite team and why?’

Kulusevski responded by stating:

“My favourite team is Arsenal, because I like everything about the club, the city, the players and the way they play football.”

Such comments could potentially hand Arsenal a boost in their hunt for Kulusevski as though they cannot offer him any European football, the winger clearly has a soft spot for the north Londoners, which could be played on in attempts to try and convince him to drop Turin for the Emirates.

Only time will tell if this actually works, of course.
