Barcelona’s financial commitment to landing Erling Haaland revealed

An insight into the intended efforts of Spanish giants FC Barcelona to land Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer has been provided.

Hitman Haaland, of course, is widely expected to seal a departure from Signal Iduna Park ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

This comes owing to a cut-price release clause in the Norwegian sensation’s contract, understood to come in around the 75 million euro mark.

A whole host of European football’s biggest clubs, in turn, are expected to express a keen interest in his signature, in a bid to land a player who could well go on to define the post-Messi/Ronaldo generation of football.

The likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid have all been tipped as potential landing spots in the media, with the aforementioned Barcelona, owing to the club’s financial troubles, long labelled little more than an afterthought in the Haaland sweepstakes.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media on Friday is anything to go by, then Barca, nevertheless, remain fully committed to an assault on Dortmund’s goalscoring star.

Not only that, but Haaland is in line for a contract worth a whopping 20 million euros-per-year, through the summer of 2027.

Further financial incentives could then be forthcoming by way of both team silverware and individual prizes earned too, with a particular emphasis on the Ballon d’Or.

Bernabeu bound?

Interestingly, news of Barca’s renewed interest in Haaland comes fresh on the back of none other than La Liga president Javier Tebas all but ruling the Catalans out of the running for the 21-year-old.

Speaking to the media this week, Tebas revealed his opinion that the financial ‘ruin’ at the Camp Nou means Xavi’s squad is simply not a realistic landing spot.

Instead, the Spaniard pointed towards Clasico rivals Real Madrid as likeliest to land not only Haaland, but fellow goalscoring prodigy Kylian Mbappe, too.
