Official: QPR sack head coach Neil Critchley

Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers have, on Sunday, confirmed the departure of head coach Neil Critchley.

For those of a Hoops persuasion, the news, of course, will come as little surprise.

QPR have long stood as one of the most out-of form clubs across the English football pyramid, a run which Critchley, since his appointment in early December, had failed to arrest in any way, shape or form.

In fact, after guiding the Londoners to victory in his maiden outing on the bench, the English tactician subsequently oversaw an 11-game winless run across all competitions.

Sliding from promotion playoff hopefuls to the depths of 17th in England’s 2nd tier in the space of less than half a season, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the powers that be at Loftus Road, on Sunday, taking decisive action once more.

As per an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, boss Critchley has been sacked by QPR with immediate effect:

‘Mike Garrity and Iain Brunskill have also left the club and we thank them for their services and effort during their time at Loftus Road.

‘An announcement regarding Neil’s replacement will be made in due course.’
