Manchester United interested in £150m Serie A star

The Red Devils have been credited with an interest in the attacker

Manchester United are reportedly interested in a shock move for Serie A left-winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in what would prove a shock move for the Red Devils.

United are looking short in wide areas as things stand. Brazilian Antony has been placed on indefinite leave as he aids an investigation into reported domestic violence against three women, though the Brazilian continues to stress his innocence in the matter.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho was omitted from the Red Devils squad to face Arsenal before the international break and after hitting back at claims he had been training poorly in the leadup to the game, it is unclear whether or not he will be part of Erik ten Hag’s plans going forward. Though he has since deleted his retort, his reconciliation remains uncertain.

It leaves Ten Hag with problems to solve, and the Daily Mail believe that they could dip into the transfer market to do so. As per reporter Mike Keegan:

“He plays on the other side but it wouldn’t surprise me if Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was in the Premier League next season.

“I know he’s had admirers here, including United, but I can’t imagine he would come cheap and a switch during the season may be unlikely.”

Kvaratskhelia was a revelation for Napoli last season as they romped to their first Serie A title since the 1980s, grabbing 12 goals and 13 assists in 34 Italian top flight outings.

Still just 22-years-old and under contract until 2027, the Georgian has played all of his club career on the left side of attack, the same position which Marcus Rashford prefers and excels in.

A mega-money move for Kvaratskhelia therefore would see one of the forwards shuffled to the opposite side of the pitch, which appears an unlikely resolution to Ten Hag’s problems on the right flank.
