These two clubs have near-identical badges, with Santa Clara dreaming of a victory over vastly their more illustrious visitors in, what would be, a massive shock.

All season long, Benfica have been sitting pretty at the top of the Primeira Liga table, but are currently enjoying just a four point cushion over in-form Braga.

Last Sunday, as Águias were held to a 2-2 draw by Sporting in Dérbi de Lisboa, with Gonçalo Ramos bagging a brace at Estádio da Luz.

However, having suffered their first defeat of the season, in any competition, at Braga last month, Roger Schmidt’s team are nervously looking over their shoulders for the first time in a long time.

By the time they kick off, Benfica’s gap is likely to be down to one point, assuming Braga defeat rock-bottom Paços de Ferreira earlier in the day.

So, the record 37-times champions of Portugal will be under pressure to win in Azores.

Os Açoreanos have won just three league matches so far this season, meaning Head Coach Mário Silva was sacked earlier this month.

In Jorge Simão’s first game in charge last Friday night, they admirably held Portimonense to a goalless draw away from home, despite having Pierre Sagna sent off after just 28 minutes.

Nevertheless, with Santa Clara now winless in seven in league and cup, Benfica should cruise to victory at Estádio de São Miguel.
