Manchester United have reportedly signed 17 year old Costa Rican winger Luis Hernandez, according to David Hytner of the Guardian.
The news was actually first revealed by Costa Rica Under-17 coach Randall Chacon, who was speaking on television during the national team’s recent match against Haiti.
Chacon said: “Indeed, the information we have is that this boy Hernandez of Costa Rica Selection Under-17 is almost certainly to be signed by Manchester United.”
The 17-year-old starlet, who plays for Joel Campbell’s former club Deportivo Saprissa, had a trial at Old Trafford last year when David Moyes was in charge and Ed Woodward has finally landed his man.
Able to play as a left back too, Luis Hernandez could be a perfect fit for Louis Van Gaal’s favoured 3-5-2 formation with marauding wing backs.
Still very young, Luis Hernandez could soon provide competition to Luke Shaw and Ashley Young on the Man United left flank.
The Red Devils are currently preparing for a massive FA Cup quarter final against rivals Arsenal, to be played on Monday night.
